As this issue is being completed, the defence committee of Peru's congress will be hearing the testimonies of interior minister Fernando Rospigliosi and antidrugs chief Nils Ericsson on the upheaval they expect the country to face in a month's time. They believe an attempt will be made to launch a wave of violent protests comparable to those that forced Bolivian President Gonzalo Sánchez de Lozada to resign last year.
